Patricia Ndede is a media and Communications expert. She has 22 years’ experience of handling various local and international brands, creating publicity and awareness around their mandate and formulating communication strategies for their visibility. She has studied International Relations and Diplomacy for her first degree, Journalism in her second degree, an M.A in Communications Studies and an Msc in Marketing. She brings a lot of media background and experience having previously worked with Kenya’s Leading Newspaper, the Nation Media Group as a Sub-Editor and writer. She was also instrumental in starting up and writing for a women’s pull out page in the Taifa Leo newspaper known as ‘Pambo’. At Capital Group, a leading radio station, she was responsible for editing storylines and news stories for the radio station as well as the editorial content for print material. Patricia has worked as the Director, Communications and Public Relations, Huduma Kenya Secretariat where she advised the Secretariat on the best media practices to adopt for various communication undertaking, acted as a link between the media key stakeholders and the Secretariat, while overseeing the planning and buying of media. She brings a huge network within the media industry and deep insights into the decision-making processes of media houses. She was also the Communications Secretary at the Ministry of Public Service Youth and Gender where she advised the CS on Media Relations as well as developed a Communications Strategy for the Ministry.
Adept at managing and overseeing communication teams assigned to Public Education Campaigns, she has people skills and exemplary interpersonal skills. She has the ability to effectively communicate with a broad range of audiences and the highest levels of management. For 11 years at Retirement Benefits Authority as Communications Manager, she was in charge of Crisis Management and developed a robust Communications Strategy which was key in managing Media and Stakeholder Relations.
Her most recent role as a Communications Consultant was overseeing the Communication Strategy of Kazi Mtaani a National Hygiene Programme response to Covid 19. She has also worked with the State Department of Housing and Urban Development under the World Bank
Project of Kenya Urban Support Programme and developed a Communication Strategy for the State Department. She also oversaw the best brand within the Kenyan Public Service Delivery space (Huduma Kenya Programme) which has so far been instrumental in changing the face of public service delivery and ensuring equitable and quality public service within all counties in Kenya.
Patricia is the current Vice President of Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK), a member of The Media Council of Kenya (MCK), a member of Marketing Society of Kenya (MSK) and Editors Guild. She is also the CEO of Simori Communications which is a Communications Agency specializing in Government Communications.
The African Public Relations Association (APRA) is the successor organisation to the Federation of African Public Relations Associations (FAPRA) that was inaugurated in 1975 in Nairobi Kenya to foster unity via interaction and exchange of ideas amongst public relations practitioners in Africa as a whole.
