Here are the guidelines for applying as a member of the African Public Relations Association:
(i) The applicant must be a practicing public relations practitioner.
(ii) The applicant must contact the secretariat to obtain the application form.
(iii) The application must be approved by two financial members in good standing of APRA as well as by at least one referee from the applicant’s national body.
(iv) The applicant must provide proof of membership in their national body (where applicable).
(i) Associate Member
Criteria : 1 to 4 years of professional experience
Benefits :
– Use of the acronym am.apra after your name
– Discount on webinars/online training
– Discount on all events organized by APRA ( for up-to-date members only)
– Regular alerts on PR-related information/news/job offers
– Access to group discounts for external conferences/training/exchange programs
– Access to studies of unique cases in public relations
Annual fee: $50
(ii) Full Member
Criteria: 5 to 9 years of professional experience
Benefits:
– Use of the acronym m.apra after your name
– Free webinars/online training
– Discount on all events organized by APRA ( for up-to-date dues-paying members only)
– Regular alerts on PR-related information/news/job offers
– Access to group discounts for external programs
Promotion conditions:
– Up-to-date payment of annual dues
– Attendance at 2 consecutive APRA conferences
– Proof of payment of annual dues/conference fees
– Proof of certificates of attendance at past conferences
Annual dues: $100
( iii) Honorary Member (Senior Member)
Criteria: 10 years of professional experience and more
Benefits:
– Use of the acronym f.apra after your name
– Free webinars/online training
– Discount on all events organized by the APRA (for up-to-date members only)
– Regular alerts on PR-related information/news/jobs
– Access to group discounts for external conferences/training/exchange programs
– Access to Unique Public Relations Case Studies
Promotion Conditions:
– Up-to-date payment of annual dues
– Attendance at 5 APRA conferences over 6 years
– Proof of payment of annual dues/conference fees
– Proof of conference attendance certificates past
Annual membership fee: $125
(iv) Corporate Membership
Criteria: For corporate organizations in public relations practice for at least 3 years
Benefits:
– Free online webinars/training
– 5% discount on all APRA hosted events (for 3 staff members and more)
– Regular alerts on PR related information/news/job vacancies
– Access to group discounts for external conferences/training/exchange programs
– Access to unique case studies in public relations
Annual fee: $500
The African Public Relations Association (APRA) is the successor organisation to the Federation of African Public Relations Associations (FAPRA) that was inaugurated in 1975 in Nairobi Kenya to foster unity via interaction and exchange of ideas amongst public relations practitioners in Africa as a whole.
