IAA NIGERIA President Pays a Courtesy visit to APRA
The International Advertising Association (IAA) Nigeria President, Dr Tunji Olugbodi paid a courtesy visit to the African Public Relations Association (APRA) at its secretariat in Lagos, Nigeria.
The President accompanied by the Executive Director of IAA, Mrs Ayoyinka Ogunsanwo expressed his delight over the warm welcome by the APRA Team and stated the reason for his visit was to solicit collaboration and partnership with APRA as the continental body for the practice of Public Relations in Africa. He further stressed a need to build advertising in the continent by joining APRA in the campaign to build the African Brand she desires through its campaign Africa Project and other activities.
The President of APRA, Mr Yomi Badejo-Okusanya in his response commended the IAA President for the move to collaborate and engage with APRA. He explained that the move is a welcome development as various bodies striving to sell a positive Africa should do same by coming together because the joint effort drives the campaign better and gives a louder voice. He said, the success story for the African brand is not a one-man task but a joint effort. While he shared some of the challenges in the drive for a positive Africa, the President explained that these challenges are opportunities for a collaborative team which will go a long way to yield great results and change the narrative of Africa.
IAA Nigeria President, Dr Tunji Olugbodi in turn shared the challenge with the educational curriculum in our institutions which are yet to embrace current trends to help young professionals align with global standards. Both presidents concluded that these challenges must be given attention to ensure a change in the industry as IAA and APRA partners on the brand Africa .
IAA is a global organisation that started 80years ago with the aim of championing the course of brands and bridging the gap for organisations operating under marketing communications while APRA is the umbrella body for the practice of Public Relations in Africa.
